Headteacher's Fortnightly Update - 15th November

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope you had a restful and enjoyable half term break.  We have had a very settled return to school and it is a pleasure to see the commitment and passion of our young people to succeed.  This has been particularly noticeable in the Science and maths exams that Y10 & 11 pupils have sat since returning

Mobile Phone Ban

Our school mobile phone ban began in earnest last week and we have already noticed the positive impact of this.  We value and appreciate the support of all parents for developing routines and ways of working without using phones during the school day.  Nearly all pupils have responded well to the new approach and we, again, are very grateful for that.

Uniform Consultation

We will be consulting with all stakeholders regarding the current school uniform in the new year.  Please look out for opportunities to share your views and inform the decisions we make.

Dropping off and picking up

These times of the day continue to be a challenge to the safety of everyone.  If you are dropping off and/or picking up pupils can you remember to either use the bus area to turn around or the overflow land at the end of the road?  Please refrain from making 3 point turns or pulling in on bends to support the safe flow of traffic.

Attendance – December

We continue to work closely with families to improve attendance to school and have made some good progress in our attendance figures.  Last year, attendance for December was a big issue for us.  We will be running some attendance challenges this year to encourage good attendance.  Please remember that full lessons will take place right up to the last day of term and attendance is vital for pupils to make progress.  As an early notification, Christmas Jumper day may be happening, but lessons will continue as normal on these days.

Staff wearing Hi Vis vests

We have introduced the process of all teachers wearing purple high visibility vests while on duty to ensure all pupils can easily identify staff should they need to speak to anyone or need any support.

Awards Evening

Awards evening on the 14th November, was a night filled with pride and joy as we celebrated the hard work and achievements of our students. Your children have shown remarkable dedication throughout the year, and it was our honour to recognise their efforts and success.

This event was not just about acknowledging academic achievements, but also about celebrating success in all its forms. Be it in sports, arts, community service or leadership, our students have outshone in every field. We hope you share our pride in their accomplishments.

I would like to conclude by saying what a wonderful evening our Awards Evening was last night.  It was fantastic to celebrate the successes achieved by our amazing pupils last year and we look forward to continuing success this year.

Kind Regards,

Mr D Lawlor
