Benefits to staying on at Sixth Form

Why should I stay on at school?

There are advantages to continuing your education, whether in Llanwern High School Sixth Form, or  elsewhere.

Obviously, you will gain extra qualifications which are needed for you to access courses at universities  and colleges, and employers also look for evidence of education beyond GCSE.

There are also other benefits to staying on at our school:

1. You give yourself the time to develop as a person, to become more mature and enhance the social skills necessary for the outside world.

2. Other skills, such as time management and independent study to demonstrate to  tutors / employers that you’re adaptable and can work using your own initiative.

3. You know the school and the school knows you! Familiar teachers and surroundings will help you settle in quickly.

4. The majority of teaching groups are small and run by experienced Sixth Form teachers. Resources are supplied by the teaching areas.

5. We have a comfortable Common Room, and a Study Room, complete with access to computers, for use only by Sixth Form students.

6. There is pastoral support to help you through academic or personal problems

7. You can access help and advice on what to do when you leave the Sixth Form.

8. We provide you with many opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities outside the classroom to enrich your time with us.
